On 13 April, Ukraine celebrates the Day of the Ukrainian Armourers. The team at Defender Media, together with our partners from the Ukrainian Council of Defence Industry, congratulates Ukrainian manufacturers and their teams on this professional holiday. At the same time, we believe that during wartime, every day is a day of Ukrainian weapons, as they work daily to defend the country.

It was on 13 April 2022 that the Ukrainian Neptune missile system struck the Russian cruiser Moskva, the flagship of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, which sank the following day. This strike became not only a significant military achievement but also a symbol of Ukraine’s ability to change the course of the war with its own weapons.

Over the past four years, Ukraine has progressed from reliance on imports to building a powerful domestic defence-industrial complex. Today, around half of the weapons used on the frontline are produced in Ukraine. The country’s defence industry is no longer a story of a few isolated products; it is an ecosystem of approximately 900 enterprises, nearly 1,000 engineering teams, and a production potential exceeding $35 billion.

Once again, we congratulate Ukrainian manufacturers on the Day of the Arms Maker. We thank everyone working in Ukraine’s defence production — engineers, developers, manufacturing teams, technical specialists, and all those who ensure that weapons are delivered on time and perform effectively on the battlefield. Your work often remains behind the scenes, but its impact is visible every day in Ukraine’s ability to defend itself, endure, and build its own military strength.
