Ukrainian company Stetman has signed a joint venture agreement with Denmark’s GomSpace. The venture will be based in Ukraine and will manufacture satellites for a future constellation that the Ukrainian business plans to launch, according to Ukrinform.
The agreement was signed at the EU-Ukraine Business Summit in Brussels. It has three practical components: establishing satellite production in Ukraine, launching the first test satellite this year, and deploying a full satellite constellation.
GomSpace’s role in the partnership is satellite engineering, technology, and manufacturing expertise, Stetman director Dmytro Stetsenko explained.
“The Danish side brings years of hands-on experience in satellite development, industrialisation, and manufacturing, as well as the relevant technical solutions, standards, and approaches required to build modern space hardware,” the entrepreneur said.
The Ukrainian company, meanwhile, is responsible for establishing the operational and manufacturing base in Ukraine, engagement with the state, and ultimately integrating into Ukraine’s defence and telecom ecosystem.
The factory is planned to be fully operational next year. The estimated investment is several hundred million euros, Stetsenko said previously. A test satellite is scheduled to be sent into space in October 2026, with full constellation deployment beginning in 2027. The constellation will total 360 satellites. The network is intended to provide connectivity to Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.
