Ukrainian defence tech manufacturer Roboneers has signed a memorandum of cooperation with two Latvian companies: SUBmerge Baltic and Baltic Forces. The first manufacturer produces underwater drones, while the second is engaged in developing international partnerships.

What the companies say about the details of the partnership

Roboneers team shares that cooperation does not involve any technology transfer and primarily concerns projects in the maritime domain. The Ukrainian manufacturer’s portfolio includes the Skipper remote-control module for unmanned boats, though the company does not disclose further details about this development. Roboneers added that they are already working on joint projects with their Latvian partners.

For his part, SUBmerge Baltic CEO Kārlis Bērziņš told that his company aims to jointly manufacture its underwater unmanned systems in Ukraine together with Roboneers. Another objective is joint R&D on new underwater systems. At the same time, Roboneers’ systems are expected to be integrated into SUBmerge Baltic’s solutions and distributed across NATO countries.

What types of maritime drones SUBmerge Baltic manufactures

Latvian company SUBmerge Baltic unveiled its developments in 2025. Its current product line includes two underwater drones:

  • Pike ROV, which is controlled via a cable. It can dive to 300 m and operate for 4 hours. The company said that development is currently at the TRL-9 level.
  • Pike AUV is a fully autonomous unmanned underwater vehicle with a range of 80 km. It can dive to 300 m and carry a 10 kg payload. This drone is currently undergoing testing. The developer expects it to be ready for production in the second half of the year.

The products have already been presented in Ukraine, but the startup plans to expand its presence and scale here, the CEO of SUBmerge Baltic said.

Roboneers team also shared that they have signed a memorandum of cooperation with Natrix, a Latvian manufacturer of UGVs used for logistics, reconnaissance, and evacuation. No further details of this partnership have been disclosed so far.
