Production of Ukrainian Seawolf uncrewed surface drones will be established in Poland as part of the Norwegian company Kongsberg’s investment in the Polish defence industry. The launch of the project was reported by Defence24.
Kongsberg announced an investment package that covers production of MCT-30 combat modules, counter-UAV (C-UAS) systems, and the establishment of a line for manufacturing Ukrainian Seawolf uncrewed surface drones. The system was presented at this year’s Defence24 Days conference.
The initial investment may reach 250 million zlotys (nearly $67,7 million), with the potential to rise to 1 billion (over $271 million). The project will also support joint procurement for European countries under the SAFE instrument.
The Seawolf naval drone is based on Ukrainian combat experience and can be adapted for various combat or reconnaissance tasks without the need to alter key components. The basic version has a 270 hp diesel engine, a range of more than 1,600 km, a payload capacity of up to 1,650 kg and a combat load of up to 450 kg.
There is also a 9.5-metre variant with a payload capacity of 4,000 kg and a range of 1,500 km. It can carry four AIM-9 missiles and a module equipped with an M2 machine gun, FPV drones or guided munitions. The developer presents it as a platform for border protection, surveillance and combined tactical operations.
Kongsberg is a Norwegian manufacturer of NASAMS systems and other defence and aerospace products. In 2025, the corporation opened an office in Ukraine and signed partnership agreements with two Ukrainian companies.
